Faith It 'Til You Make It
Faith It 'Til You Make It
Welcome to Faith It 'Til You Make It—the podcast for people who love Jesus but also have a tendency to cry in parking lots. Hosted by Rachael (that’s me—hi), this show is for the spiritually curious, the burnt-out believers, and anyone who's ever tried to pray through gritted teeth. I started this podcast because life is messy, faith is complicated, and I got tired of pretending I had it all together. Spoiler: I don’t. Neither do you. That’s why we’re here. Each week, I show up—cracked heart, caffeine in hand—to talk honestly about what it means to walk with God when nothing feels very holy. There will be laughter. There will be oversharing. There may be emotional whiplash. So if you’re over curated perfection and want something real, raw, and occasionally ridiculous... pull up a chair. You’re in messy, blessed company.

When God Cancels Your Plans

Have you ever felt like you were doing exactly what God wanted… only for everything to fall apart? In this episode of Faith It ’Til You Make It, I’m sharing the story of our annual mission trip to Mexico getting cancelled at the last minute—and the unexpected mix of disappointment, relief, guilt, and confusion that followed. Because this wasn’t God saying no to something reckless… this was God saying no to something good. I talk a lot about trusting God when He calls us to step out in faith—b

The Gospel According to a Fork

A fork tattoo sounds ridiculous — until you know the story. This episode explores spiritual markers, obedience that looks foolish from the outside, and how we remember who we are when we are fully aligned with God.

Hard Fought Hallelujahs: When Redemption Makes Us Uncomfortable

The internet has been buzzing about Jelly Roll and his bold, public expressions of faith. Some are celebrating it. Others are questioning it. And as the comments rolled in, I found myself asking a deeper question: Why do we get so uncomfortable when someone’s redemption is loud? This episode isn’t about deciding whether someone else’s faith is real. It’s about examining our own heart posture when transformation doesn’t look polished, quiet, or fully finished. Why do we prefer testimonie

Feeling Fake: Christian Imposter Syndrome

In this episode of Faith It ’Til You Make It, we’re unpacking what it really means to feel like an imposter after salvation. What if that awkward tension isn’t fraudulence… but formation? What if the discomfort isn’t hypocrisy… but growth? We’ll talk about: The difference between justification and sanctification Why spiritual growt

Borrowed Faith: Moving Beyond Inherited Faith

What happens when someone asks you, “What do you believe?” And you realize your answer sounds more like something you were taught than something you’ve actually wrestled with? In this episode of Faith It ’Til You Make It, we talk about borrowed faith—the beliefs we inherit, absorb, and repeat without ever examining whether they’ve become our own. Inspired by a candid conversation with my 12-year-old, this episode explores why faith was never meant to be inherited, rehearsed, or outsourced—but

The "T" Word: Faith, Money, & Trust

Money talk in church can feel awkward—sometimes even triggering. So when the topic of tithing comes up, many of us tune out, tense up, or carry baggage from past experiences that didn’t feel great. In this episode of Faith It ’Til You Make It, we’re talking about the “T” word without pressure or guilt. This isn’t an offering message—it’s an honest conversation about why money has so much power over our hearts, what Scripture actually says about generosity, and how tithing is less about church b

Host

Hi, I’m Rachael Pontious—state-employed problem solver by day, youth ministry chaos wrangler by night, podcast host by pure calling (or maybe caffeine). I’ve spent the last nine years volunteering with high school students at Bayside Church, which means I’ve seen it all: tears, TikToks, theological crises, and a truly disturbing number of Crocs.

I became a Christian at 27, after a full-speed sprint through life’s messier chapters—so I don’t come to faith conversations wearing a halo. I come with receipts, sarcasm, and a heart that’s been radically reworked by grace.

I’m a wife, a mom to two wildly creative humans (ages 9 & 12), and a proud Enneagram 7, which means I’m basically allergic to boredom and have a tendency to turn every conversation into a stand-up routine or a deep existential monologue. I love public speaking, honest storytelling, and yes—words of affirmation. So feel free to tell me I’m doing great. I’ll wait.

Whether I’m behind a mic, leading teens, or deep in a spreadsheet for my day job, I’m here for the real stuff: faith that limps, laughter that heals, and grace that covers all the in-between.
